BUILD YOUR MEAL
Managing portion control is important for people with type 2 diabetes as it helps to control calorie and carbohydrate intake. One resource used by healthcare professionals to educate about portion control is the food plate which represents suitable portions of food. Completing my research I didn’t find any models that were suitable for those from different cultures.
I have designed three resources: a poster, a booklet and a magnetic meal planner that show a wide range of meals that fit the food plate model as well as allowing the person to make their own meals with the food that they enjoy eating.
